Ingredients:
2 sheets of puff pastry
2 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and quartered
1/3 cup of baker’s sugar, plus extra for dusting
Instructions:
-Begin by preheating your oven to 425°F, setting the stage for baking.
-Peel, core, and quarter the apples. Simmer them in a saucepan with just enough water to cover, over medium heat for about 4 minutes, or until they’re slightly softened. Remove from the heat, stir in the sugar, and allow to cool.
-Slice each sheet of puff pastry in half, and then cut each half into three rectangles. You’ll end up with six pieces in total.
-Dampen the edges of one pastry rectangle, place a portion of the cooled apple mixture on top, then cover with another pastry rectangle, this time with slits cut into it. Press the edges together to seal. Repeat this process to create six apple parcels.
-Arrange the parcels on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Lightly sprinkle the tops with additional sugar to give them a sweet, crispy finish.
-Place in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until each Danish turns golden brown and puffs up.
This 3-Ingredient Apple Danish is best savored fresh and warm, offering a comforting and satisfying treat. Any leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Reheat them in the oven for a few minutes when you’re ready to enjoy a pastry that tastes as good as new.
