INGREDIENTS
- ½ pound thick-cut bacon, diced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 pound ground beef (lean preferred)
- 1 tablespoon steak seasoning or your favorite burger spice blend
- 1 (13.8-ounce) tube refrigerated pizza dough (such as Pillsbury Classic)
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar-jack cheese
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp. Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate and pour off most of the bacon fat, leaving about a tablespoon in the pan.
- Add the onion and ground beef to the skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until the onions are tender and the beef is browned and cooked through. Drain off any excess grease.
- Lower the heat slightly and return the bacon to the pan. Stir in the steak seasoning, then sprinkle in the cheddar-jack cheese. Stir just until melted and everything is coated in cheesy goodness. Remove from heat.
- Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle about 15×10 inches. Spread the meat and cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
- Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly like a jelly roll. Pinch the seam and ends to seal, then place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Let cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve warm with a side of my Special Sauce for dipping.
