Grinder Dip — Inspired by the famous Italian-style hoagie trend, this version turns all your favorite sandwich layers into a creamy, zesty holiday appetizer everyone loves to scoop and share.
Taking inspiration from the viral deli hoagie, we dice up the classic cold-cut trio, fold them into a bold herbed vinaigrette sauce, and serve it dip-style in crisp bite cups for a festive winter crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise (I reach for Trader Joe’s)
- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 garlic clove, finely grated
- ¼ tsp chili flakes
- ¼ tsp sea salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ cup red onion, minced
- ¼ cup sweet pepper rings, drained and finely chopped
- 4 oz deli turkey breast, diced
- 4 oz deli ham, diced
- 4 oz classic salami bites, diced
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella
- ¼ cup shredded parmesan
- 2 cups finely shredded iceberg lettuce
- Mini phyllo cups or tortilla cups, for serving
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, oregano, graded garlic, chili flakes, salt, and black pepper until smooth and fragrant.
- Fold in the minced red onion and chopped sweet peppers, stirring gently to coat them with the creamy dressing.
- Add the diced turkey, ham, and salami, followed by the shredded mozzarella and parmesan. Toss lightly until every piece is coated in dressing.
- Finally, fold in the shredded iceberg lettuce, mixing carefully so it stays airy and crisp.
- Spoon the dip into a serving dish and surround it with your mini phyllo or tortilla cups for scooping. Serve chilled and enjoy the empty platter applause!
