If you’re craving something cold, chocolatey, and downright indulgent—but don’t feel like turning on the oven—this creamy mud pie is just the ticket. It layers a buttery crumb crust, a silky cream cheese filling, and rich pudding, all topped with fluffy whipped topping. Perfect for potlucks, Sunday dinners, or whenever you need a spoonful of comfort.
Ingredients
Crust:
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
¼ cup granulated sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
Cream Layer:
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 (12-ounce) tub whipped topping, thawed and divided
Pudding Layer:
1 (3.9-ounce) box instant chocolate pudding
1 (3.4-ounce) box instant butterscotch pudding
3 cups cold milk
Instructions
Make the crust
In a medium bowl, stir together the graham cracker crumbs, ¼ cup of sugar, and softened butter until everything is evenly moistened. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish to form an even crust.
Mix the cream layer
In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese with the remaining ¾ cup sugar until smooth. Fold in about half of the whipped topping (just enough to lighten the mixture). Spread this over the prepared crust.
Prepare the pudding
In another bowl, whisk the chocolate pudding mix, butterscotch pudding mix, and milk until thickened. Once it sets slightly, gently spread the pudding mixture over the cream cheese layer.
Finish the top
Spread the rest of the whipped topping across the pudding layer. Refrigerate until chilled and set. Add shaved chocolate on top before serving if you’d like a little flair.
