Game Day Garbage Bread

Whether your favorite team is winning or not, this recipe will have everyone cheering! My Garbage Bread is the ultimate comfort food — imagine a warm, cheesy bacon cheeseburger all rolled up inside golden, flaky bread. It’s hearty, messy in the best way, and downright irresistible. Perfect for football Sundays, family gatherings, or any time you need a crowd-pleasing bite. 🏈✨

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ pound thick-cut bacon, diced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef (lean preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon steak seasoning or your favorite burger spice blend
  • 1 (13.8-ounce) tube refrigerated pizza dough (such as Pillsbury Classic)
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar-jack cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp. Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate and pour off most of the bacon fat, leaving about a tablespoon in the pan.
  3. Add the onion and ground beef to the skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until the onions are tender and the beef is browned and cooked through. Drain off any excess grease.
  4. Lower the heat slightly and return the bacon to the pan. Stir in the steak seasoning, then sprinkle in the cheddar-jack cheese. Stir just until melted and everything is coated in cheesy goodness. Remove from heat.
  5. Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle about 15×10 inches. Spread the meat and cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  6. Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly like a jelly roll. Pinch the seam and ends to seal, then place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Let cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
  8. Serve warm with a side of my Special Sauce for dipping.
