Ingredients

  • 1 pound bacon cut into thirds
  • 1 pound Lil' Smokies small smoked sausages
  • 1 stick butter 1/2 cup, melted
  • 2 cups brown sugar divided

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the bacon strips into thirds. Wrap each Lil' Smokie with a piece of bacon, securing it with a toothpick if necessary.
  3. Arrange the bacon-wrapped smokies in a single layer in a baking dish.
  4. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Add 1 cup of brown sugar and stir until well combined.
  5. Pour the butter and brown sugar mixture evenly over the bacon-wrapped smokies.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of brown sugar evenly over the top.
  7. Bake for 15–20 minutes, then increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). Continue baking for approximately 5 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the sugar has caramelized.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle with a pinch of cayenne pepper or smoked paprika before baking. For crispier bacon, broil briefly at the end, watching carefully to prevent the sugar from burning.
