Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup butter salted, softened
  • 0.75 cup sugar
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour plus extra if needed

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll dough into balls and place on baking sheet.
  6. Press each cookie with three fingers to create lines.
  7. Bake 12–14 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool completely before storing.

Notes

Do not overbake—these cookies should stay soft and pale with just lightly golden edges for the best texture.
