Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked ham finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 celery rib finely diced
  • 2 tbsp onion finely chopped
  • 1 hard-boiled egg chopped
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Method

  1. Finely chop the cooked ham with a knife, or pulse it a few times in a food processor until small but not pasty.
  2. Place the chopped ham in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the diced celery, chopped onion, sweet pickle relish, and chopped hard-boiled egg.
  4. Add the mayonnaise, yellow mustard, and black pepper.
  5. Stir until everything is evenly coated and well combined.
  6. Taste and adjust with more mayonnaise, mustard, relish, onion, or black pepper as desired.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors blend.
  8. Serve chilled on sandwich bread, crackers, croissants, rolls, lettuce leaves, or toasted sourdough.

Notes

For a smoother deli-style texture, pulse the ham lightly in a food processor. Avoid adding salt until tasting, since ham is usually salty enough.
