Ingredients

  • 6 to 8 lb ham fully cooked, bone-in
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves optional
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F and place ham cut side down in a roasting pan.
  2. Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern using a sharp knife.
  3. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 10–12 minutes per pound to warm through.
  4. In a saucepan, combine honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, butter, cloves, and pepper. Heat until smooth.
  5. Remove foil 30–40 minutes before done. Brush glaze generously over the ham.
  6. Continue baking uncovered, brushing additional glaze every 10–15 minutes.
  7. Optional: increase oven temperature slightly at the end for deeper caramelization.
  8. Remove from oven and let rest 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Basting frequently builds a rich, sticky glaze. For extra flavor, insert whole cloves into the scored intersections before baking.
