Apple Pie Biscuits

There’s something so comforting about warm apples, buttery biscuits, and a hint of cinnamon drifting through the kitchen. These Apple Pie Biscuits come together quickly in a cast iron skillet, making them perfect for a cozy weekend brunch or a simple dessert. The best part? You only need a few pantry staples and a can of apple pie filling to whip up something that tastes like it’s been baking for hours. Top with vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of glaze for a treat that feels both homey and indulgent.

Ingredients

  • 8 buttermilk biscuits, thawed (frozen or homemade)
  • 1 (21 oz) can apple pie filling
  • ½ cup unsalted or salted butter, melted
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ⅓ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Glaze (can be doubled):

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat & Prepare Skillet:
Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly butter or brush a 10-inch cast iron skillet to coat the bottom and sides.

Mix Cinnamon-Sugar:
In a small bowl, stir together brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until evenly blended.

Coat Biscuits:
Dip each biscuit into the melted butter, then roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture so all sides are covered. Arrange biscuits side by side in the skillet.

Add Apples:
Chop apple slices from the pie filling into bite-sized pieces. Stir in the vanilla extract. Spread evenly over the biscuits. If using nuts, sprinkle them across the top.

Top & Bake:
Pour any remaining melted butter over the apple layer and sprinkle on the rest of the cinnamon-sugar. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden and bubbly.

Make Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm biscuits before serving.
