Easy Ham and Cheese Calzones

There’s something so comforting about pulling a tray of warm, golden calzones out of the oven. They’re the kind of simple, hearty meal that brings everyone to the kitchen—perfect for a cozy weeknight or when you’ve got a hungry crowd gathered for the game. This version is wonderfully melty, savory, and comes together without any fuss.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1 cup diced cooked ham
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup ricotta cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Lightly flour your work surface, then divide the dough into four portions. Roll each one into an 8-inch circle.
  3. In a mixing bowl, stir together the ham, mozzarella, ricotta, Parmesan, oregano, and garlic powder until well combined.
  4. Spoon a quarter of the filling onto one half of each dough circle, keeping a small border around the edge.
  5. Brush the exposed edge of the dough with the beaten egg. Fold the empty side over the filling to form a half-moon, and press the edges together with a fork to seal.
  6. Arrange the calzones on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Brush the tops with olive oil and cut a tiny slit in each one so steam can escape. Sprinkle a little extra cheese on top if you like.
  8. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the calzones are beautifully golden.
  9. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving—just enough so you don’t lose any of that glorious, gooey filling.
